A well organised student council provides a representative body for students. As well as organising specific events, the council contributes to the life of the school through its involvement in issues such as an anti-bullying campaign and the school’s chosen ‘theme of the year’.

Student Council

A Student Council is a representative structure through which students in a post-primary school can become involved in the affairs of the school, working in partnership with school management and staff and parents for the benefit of the school and its students (Department of Education & Science, 2002)

We are very proud of our Student Council in Loreto Secondary School, Letterkenny.

The Student council represents the entire student body and helps to promote a positive school environment which is conducive to educational and personal development.

The Student Council has elected representatives from each year group and meets weekly. It enhances communications between students, school management, staff and parents.

The student council also engages in many community fundraisers and awareness projects. Keep an eye on our news feed where we will update frequently on Student Council initiatives.
